Mirrors of the SoulWhen was the last time you treated yourself to an evening of passionate orchestral music, evocative literature & poetry, exquisite fine art, and uplifting spiritual reflection - all beautifully and seamlessly blended to create an unforgettable entertainment experience? For two nights only, Mirrors of the Soul – featuring live orchestra, dramatic literary and poetry readings, and projected fine art - will sweep you away in just such a current of sublime sensory experience.
Mirrors of the Soul features passionate, carefully selected orchestral and chamber music by incredibly gifted contemporary composers that will directly connect with you as it powerfully evokes the diverse aspects of our shared human experience. The evening’s program will unfold like the journeys and seasons of life: Some of the music is playful and will nudge you to laughter; some is celestial, looking in hushed tones to heaven; some will touch you with nostalgia and pangs of memory; one will evoke strains of loneliness while another speaks to inextinguishable love and unfailing companionship; one reflects the edginess and doubt that we all sometimes experience deep down, while another affirms triumph and transcendence in the face of such doubt; one is a dance that evokes feelings of self-conscious awkwardness; another depicts a swashbuckling adventure at sea that will carry you far away from your cares.
Beautifully complimenting these musical unfoldings are projected images of expressive fine art, as well as dramatic readings of poetry, literature, and other poignant secular and spiritual writings, all carefully selected to ravish the mind and heart.
Join us for Mirrors of the Soul. Bring your beloved, your friends, and your family. You will leave entertained, delighted, challenged, and deeply inspired.
Our concert features two special soloists from our Orchestra:
Victoria Sabonjohn has dedicated her life to the performance and teaching of music for over 10 years. Her two passions are performing oboe in an orchestral setting and teaching both privately and in the classroom. Mrs. Sabonjohn graduated Summa Cum Laude from Stetson University with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, studying oboe with Dr. Ann Adams. She immediately pursued a Masters Degree in Oboe Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music, under the instruction of Laura Ahlbeck. Upon her completion of graduate studies, Mrs. Sabonjohn relocated to Los Angeles, CA with her husband. As a professional oboist, Mrs. Sabonjohn performs actively in the community, playing with several local orchestras and chamber groups. In addition to an active private studio, she also teaches elementary school instrumental music withChildren’s Music Workshop. She plays three wonderful solos from Jenni Brandon’s In the City at Night.
Our program of new and powerful musical works will include compositions by many composers. Here are some samples of the offerings for our evening:
